The First Delta Wind Birds Mural Is Complete

Belzoni and Humphreys county are so proud of the new mural that Gavin Bird painted on the west facing Fire Station Wall at 201 W Jackson Street. Bird is a Jackson based muralist, and this mural is the first work complete of two murals being painted in Belzoni. As part of the first ever MS Delta National Heritage Area Grant received in Humphreys County, Gavin Bird was commissioned by Delta Wind Birds to erect a mural on the Fire Station wall and Biloxi artist Julia Reyes will be starting her work on another mural on the Jaketown Museum very soon. Keep a watch on our social media for updates! Thank you so much to Delta Wind Birds and the MS Delta National Heritage Area for this magnificent gift.

We are just amazed by the final product, in Gavin’s own words:

“I Just completed a mural commissioned by Delta Wind Birds in Belzoni! This mural is my personal favorite that I have painted so far. It features native wildlife found at sky lake such as: belted kingfisher, great blue heron, hairy woodpecker, and the prothonotary warbler along with native flora. The design highlights Belzoni, 4 mile, history from the Humphreys county cultural museum, and Native American history in the Delta.”
